Need a little help here. I do not specialize in British firearms, but do have a few as they fit into my WW II collection.
I have a No.4 Mk1 1941 dated rifle that is all matching and not import marked. I bought the rifle about 30 years back when I first started collecting. I believe it is BSA Shirley, but from all I have read the serial number should have a letter prefix followed by the numbers. Mine is serial number 4429A, so the letter is a suffix and not a prefix. Same number is repeated on the bolt and forearm (although hard read).
Wanted to get opinions on this rifle to make sure it is a BSA Shirley. I am trying to add one rifle to my collection from every arsenal that manufactured the No4 Mk1 and M1*. Appreciate any help here.
